Ans :- Kalidas was a renowned classical Sanskrit poet and playwright who lived in ancient India, Estimated to have lived during the 4th or 5th century CE. He is often regarded as one of the greatest poet in Sanskrit literature and is widely celebrated for this extraordinary work, which include play , epic and lyrical poetry .Not much is known about Kalidasa’s personal life or historical background, and many details about his life remain shrouded in mystery. According to legend, he was a simple shepherd who gained  great wisdom and literary prowess through divine intervention or by the grace of the goddess Kali. He is often referred to as the “Shakespeare” of India due to his immense literary talent and contribution to the field of classical Indian literature

Kalidasa’s most famous works include :-

a )Abhijnanashakuntalam (The recognition of Sakunthala) : This is perhaps his most well known play, which tells the story of the love affair between King Dushyanta and the maiden Sakunthala. It is a captivating tale of romance and separation and the play explorer themes of love, fate and destiny

b) Raghuvansham : This is an epic poem that traces the lineage of the Solar dynasty, especially focusing on the story of Lord Rama’s  ancestor and his family. It is a sequel to the Great epic, the Ramayana

c) Meghadutam ( The cloud messenger ) : A lyrical poem, It revolves around the exiled Yaksha (a celestial being )who send a message to his wife through a passing cloud, describing the beauty of the place he sees during his journey

d) Kumarasambhava : Another epic poem, Kumaarasambhava narrates the story of the marriage of Lord Shiva and Parvati and the birth of their son, Kartikeya(also known as Kumarasambhava)

Kalidasa work are characterised by their exquisite use of language, vivid descriptions of nature profound  insites into human emotions and their ability to evoke a strong emotion in readers.
