Q.- Write a note on Narad’s descripption to Lord Rama in the the begining of Valmiki’s Ramayana ?
Ans : At the beginning of the Valmiki Ramayana, Sage Valmiki asks a very important question to Sage Narada. He asks, “Who is the greatest man living on earth today—one who is virtuous, brave, truthful, righteous, and kind to all?”Valmiki wants to know about a perfect human being who possesses all good qualities. In reply, Sage Narada describes Lord Rama, the prince of Ayodhya.
1. The Question of Valmiki : Valmiki asks Narada to describe an ideal man — one who has all the noble qualities such as truth, courage, wisdom, compassion, and righteousness. He wishes to know whether such a person actually exists in the world.
2. Narada’s Answer : Narada replies that such a person does exist and his name is Rama, the son of King Dasharatha of Ayodhya. He is the embodiment of all virtues and the ideal man (Maryada Purushottama).
3. Description of Rama’s Qualities : Narada tells Valmiki that Rama is truthful in speech, firm in promise, and kind in nature. He follows the path of righteousness (dharma), protects the weak, and respects his elders. He is brave like Lord Indra, wise like Brihaspati, and handsome like Kamadeva. Rama is gentle, forgiving, and devoted to his duties as a son and king.
4. His Life and Struggles : Narada also narrates the main events of Rama’s life — his exile to the forest for fourteen years, his wife Sita’s abduction by Ravana, and his great war in Lanka to rescue her. Despite suffering and hardship, Rama always remained calm and righteous.
5. Narada’s Conclusion : Narada concludes by saying that Rama is the ideal man who teaches humanity the values of truth, loyalty, sacrifice, and duty. Inspired by this story, Valmiki decides to write the Ramayana, which later becomes one of the greatest epics of India.
